“It is my sad duty to inform you of the passing of our Zone Commander and fellow veteran Rob Fernell yesterday, on 11 November. Rob had been Zone Commander for several years, a past Branch President and long-time Legion member serving in numerous branches. He was a former member of Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) and had served in the Canadian Airborne Regiment as a paratrooper.

On Saturday, November 11th, 2023 at the Brockville General Hospital, Robert Fernell entered into rest at the age of 65 years. Robert Fernell son of the late David Fernell and the late Marilyne Fernell. Dear Father of Pamela Fernell. Cherished Grandfather of Hadleigh. Dear Brother of Teresa Niskasari and Amy Ditchburn (Corey). Uncle of Justin, Marcie, Lacy and Keith.
