Branch facilities are available for receptions, weddings, celebrations of life, meetings, etc. Contact Branch Manager Ann DeWolfe at 613 3823023 or email rcl@bellnet.ca.
Poppies will be available in area stores from Friday 25 October.
The Branch would welcome your support of its 2024 Poppy Campaign. There is a sign-up board in the entrance to the bar where Legion members and non-Legion members can volunteer a few hours of their time on Saturday 2 November to offer poppies to the public in various locations in Gananoque. You can choose a location and a morning or an afternoon shift or do both shifts. There will be a light meal at the Legion served to volunteers at noon hour. No uniform is required. Poppy funds go to support such activities as school programs, bursaries, homeless veterans, and the main Canadian veteran hospital in Ottawa.
Some of the Poppy Funds collected will be used this year to renovate the Town war memorial which was erected in 1920. This restoration will be part of our plans to mark the 100th anniversary of this Branch in 2027.
Remembrance Day will be Monday, 11 November, at the war memorial which contains the names of 84 area men who lost their lives in the two world wars and Afghanistan.
The Legion and the Town funded publication of Gananoque Remembers which contains biographies on the 84 Gananoque area men who lost their lives in the two world wars and Afghanistan. Limited supplies of Gananoque Remembers are available for $25. Makes a great Xmas Gifts.
